Very much south..
60 litre cube, 30 litres of k1

2 5000 litre per hour circulation pump

An airstone in the bottom...

Hardly boils.

Upper crust, a big one, does not move at all...

Will the K1 sink, eventually?ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1361907761.818525.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1361907773.292618.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1361907782.769586.jpg

Do you have enough air going to it? What I got from the other thread is it takes alot of air movement.

Yeah, I found a HUGE flaw in K1, that is the fact that they don't tell you it will take several days for the stuff to even begin remotely boiling right.

I flipped out when mine didn't work. Ripped it apart and rebuilt. Big mistake. I wouldn't do anything till that stuff's been brewing several days.

I'd kill the circ pumps and just let it bubble for a few days...... I only had luck using really small power heads and it was only to blow the media away from the drain.

Can you elaborate more on the "airstone"? How big is it? How big is the air pump? These things need A LOT of air to get going right. I much prefer bubble "disks". I bet there's 8-10 in each of my 55 gallon drums along with the crashing water (3K gph) coming in several inches above the water's surface.

Gotta be patient with these things...... lol

My aistone is small. I have ordered a circular diak which is on its way and will be able to install it during these week.

That is why i put in the 2 pumps....

Will it improove just like that?

What kind of aor flow, in whatever measure(?) do you guys have to have it boiling like yours??

I have all the patience of the world..

Think i have the basics on.

Now i just need the damn thing to boil!!:)

i heard that when the bio film forms on the media that it will boil easier.

Yup, it will improve just like that.... They're super boyant with nothing growing on them. Once they begin to seed boyancy changes, and they don't float as much.

The reactor I'm currently working on is a 55 gallon tank, it will have (2) 9" bubble disks in it......

I bought the biggest airpump I could find without compromising efficiency. It does 5.3 cfm, 6.5PSI. Most people run quite a bit less....... An airpump like that in addition to 3000 gph smashing down, I'd say it boils OK...... lol ;)

Here is mine. No powerhead used, just took advantage of the flow and 2 long 12" air stone bars (whatever you want to call them) to the right of the screen.

I have no issues. Vid has is crazy loud but its not. Hope it helps or gives you more ideas...
