Right now my BD is in a 20 gallon he's only a baby. I was looking on youtube and oher websites. I see how they build them and all that but i have a few questions. Do you need a floor heater or no. I've seen ppl use tile and a floor heate wont heat that so it was just the light heating the floor. I wanna build something about the size of a 40 gallon breeder. Idk the cost but for a new tank and floor heater it would be somewhere around $160 for an enclosure and heater. I've been searching for a used 40 but can't find one yet. Any ideas?

why wouldnt UTH heat tile? i would figure its the same concept as having tile warmer in a bathroom with tile flooring, makes it nice and toasty to walk on :) and yeah you can def build something for cheaper than that, i would suggest just building wooden box to the dimensions you want and then to a hinged front that has a latch, and with the front just do the wood frame and cover opening with coated wire mesh for nice visibility and air flow, and do same with the top portion for your lamp to sit on. i think that would be pretty cool enclosure and you could really make the foot print whatever you wanted

all you need is a water bowl some sand and maybe a peice of driftwood maybe adding up to $100

Unless where you live its freezing you dont need a undertank heater, bearded dragons are heliophilic lizards wich means they get their heat from above, so you need a basking lamp of about 60watts and a uv lamp and thats it. I dont recomend you keeping him on sand for now, use paper towells.

yea you are over complicating this
you will essentially be building a wood box with a light or two in it and a glass window or sliding window
