size of tank? size of sump
Those baffles are pretty tall, not gong to give you much space for excess water in an outage.
I agree baffles are too high, they should only be as high as the planned total water level in the sump, if used at all.
I don't use baffles in sumps just for this reason, (I put biomedia in mesh bags) the last thing I want to do is starve the pump.
I realize most people think baffles are needed.
I find them to be more trouble than their worth, and are a pain the arse to work around when doing maintenance.
Getting tank height, and volume in the sump are a delicate balance, especially with syphons.
If they are made, and placed too deep in the main tank, too much water will over flow to the sump.
If they are too shallow siphon might break, and the tank will overflow.
I will admit I have never been able to make those DIY PVC overflows to work properly (although I've tried), instead I find drilingl tanks to be much more fool proof, and less likely to fail.
Drilled there is no need for siphon, water just rises to the level of the drilled hole, and falls thru by gravity to the sump, and the amount of water put in the sump reacts to gravity and amount pumped.
