My new BGK is very reclusive and actually hides inside a piece of driftwood, out of sight. I have been puuting a brine shrimp cube in the opening, but don'y know if he has been eating it. I have gotten to come out of his hole several times and he looks healthy, so do you think everything is ok??

How long have you had it? It may be shy, but should get over it soon. Best thing to do as well, is feed it late night and turn off the lights.

Just an idea,

I have plenty of hides in my tank but my BGK really only eats his tubifex cubes in his favorite, which is good because I get to watch :).

Try laying a flat rock against the glass and put you food item in there, also, all the BGK's I've ever seen like a good tubifex cube :)

Its better if the lights are off, it will totally come out when food is in the water. Although, if hungry enough it will come out with the lights on. If you wanna make sure it eats just stay there and watch it for a little while. I usually let a frozen bloodworm cube thaw, then drop it above his hiding spot. The whole pile of worms sink right outside his spot and he comes out and gobbles it up.
