Eggs being laid.. and male swimming over the eggs secreting his milt(Jizz, sperm, man juice whatever you wanna call it).

Birds and the Bees.. Birds and the Bees. lol

I've seen some LFS near my home when I was in Vietnam have young oscars in big pond. And when they get old enough they find their mate themselves. If you see 2 oscars swim together and protect each other then they are parring up! All their breeding behavior are just about the same as other cichlid; clean the breeding ground(rocks, or any hard surface in tank), laying eggs, jizz, ...!

i was wondering how do i know if my oscars are breeding because i think they are

You will know your oscars are breeding when there is a definate nest site cleaned out at the bottom of the tank........They usually lay eggs on flat, clean surface such as a slate of rock or the side of a clay flower vase.........The eggs hatch within 2-3 days..........The hatchlings are known as wigglers because they cannot swim..........The yolk sacks will be the wigglers' food source for the first 3-5 days........Then, the fish become free-swimmers..........When free swimming, baby brine shrimp should be fed to the swimmming spawn 3-5 times daily...........
