I got a new (used) tank, as I was cleaning the tank, I notice some of the silicone work are more flexible than the bottom or the back of the tank.

The bottom are thicker and feels that it "gripped" the glass better then the part in question.

The area in question, have most of the silicone peeled off the glass.

The tank is supposedly 3 years old. Mfg are unknown unfortunately...

Am I just freaking out ?

Pics? Sounds like it is worth your immediate attention to me...

sounds like you needa replace it no biggie... there are a buncha threads and its very easy!

The way I determine the quality of seals is to press down on the center of the seal (thickest part) and watch the ends. If the ends lift away from the glass on ANY part of the inside seal then it's time to re-seal the tank. Having part of the seals missing could be from substrait abraision but I'd have to go with a re-seal in that case as well.

Thanks guys,

I started it last night, I remove the old silicone and to my surprise the area where the silicone adhere to the glass was less than 1/8". It was removed pretty easily. Cleaned them up with white distilled vinegar, I am going to clean it again with rubbing alcohol or acetone and I'll start sealing it tonight.
