How do i lower PH and Ammonia?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
for the amonia get a bigger filter :grinyes:

Use peat moss or whatever in your filter to lower the PH. Bigger filter to lower the ammonia. You could also change some water.

How old is the pond? What is the sock levels in it? You probable know but Ammonia comes from fish waste or decomposition of uneaten food rotting plant waste etc. So a system with a new filter it can go through the roof. If it’s a old stocked pond then its simple you need to decrease stocking densities, feeding, and /or increase filtration. So a combination of high ph and high ammonia is especially dangerous because with each 1 point increase in ph the ammonia present is 10 times more toxic. (Ammonia is 100 times more toxic when you go from ph 7 to ph 9).

I think i know y it was so high. I lost one of my koi and i couldnt find it that morning but later that night the dead body poped out of no where so i think it was rotting in sum corner the whole time. Ill do a small water change a lil later:)
