Try feeding hikari blood red parrot food. Been using them on my flowerhorn and has had good results in a short amount of time

Agreed, they sell color enhancing foods that are meant to bring out colors in the fader amph hybrids.

Yes, color enhancing foods that contain astaxanthin can help, but if the genes aren't there don't expect to see a huge difference.

They haven't really got amazingly more red, (they are in a community tank), but def some improvement.

All that black is an indication that they are still fading, so they will only get more red from here.

...... or they never will. Not all RT's completely fade, in fact the majority do not.
