I understand Bichirs have high frequency of becoming blind, And i know water quality plays a big role, but even so, changing your water every weeks is quite annoying, is there a way to make things easier? or am i stuck with constnat water changes

Blindness, hairy palms... both can be prevented by- ah wait, different problem. Weekly water changes are part of the hobby. If you find doing them to be troublesome, perhaps you could invest in an automatic water changer which would allow you to merely turn on and off the faucet, and dose with a proper dechlorinator.
