How Do I Remove Salt Deposits?

I just picked up a 7 watts JBJ UV Sterilizer for my small 20gal tank that was previous used on a salt tank. How do I remove the white spotted deposited and prep it for a fresh water tank? Can I reuse the sponge after a rinsing? Since this UV is mounted inside the tank, would the UV be harmful to me or the fish?

i don't think the salt is harmful, but i wash out used salt tanks with a diluted mix of vinegar in water

Would I still need to do any scrubbing or does vingar dissolves everything? I just went out to get some vingar and pour two bottles in a container and letting it soak.
