How do I swap canister filters safely?

I just picked up an Fluval fx4 from a fellow MFK member. I still need to get some small things to get it tank ready. What is the correct and safest process of swapping my current canister filter with the new fx4?

You can put the media from the current canister filter into the baskets of the FX4 if they fit properly OR you can run both canister filters on the tank if you have room.

Nah, if you have cycled media, it’s no big deal

Indeed. The media itself has all the bacteria, so whatever it's transferred to it will instantly cycle.
