I've had my tank for 3yrs and I'm looking at replacing it with a 150 or 180 tank. The salt I use is Reef Crystals. I can't find a place online to buy it cheaper than my LFS. I found other salts online to use, but how do I switch salts? Any special way?

Thanks

what you do is get packages of each salt, and put them near each other with a divider in between them. give them about a week to get familiar with each other. you can then remove the divider than watch for any signs of aggression.

i mean, no. just start using the other salts per their instructions.

LOL pretty funny there.

what 'd do is mix up the full tank's worth of salt water and fill the tank up. then drip acclimate the fish to the new salt water of that bigger tank.

you kinda waste your old salt water, but its deffietely the safest way to do it.........or actally maybe just keeping all the same water, and just do water changes with the new salt, and they should get used to it just as easy.......now that i think about it that last way would be best, easiest and wouldn't waste any water!

I agree, just start using the new brand of salt with your next water change. Then you'll gradually switch over the entire volume of your tank over the course of several water changes.
