How do keep the colors?! please help

i have 3 datnoids and sometimes there color fade to dark black. like right after i turn on the light and some people have nice looking dats they have a nice gold i mean mines have gold but i want it to be really gold and always be gold. do i have to feed it in a certain way?

Take out the dark sand or gravel you have and they should brighten up. Put in bare bottom or a lighter substrate.

The bright lights may be stressing them out. Some people literally retro fit christmas lights into their aquarium light fixtures to avoid this.

either have 1 dat alone, or try 5 or more to have a stable dat.

Dim lights really do help however like someone else said. 90% of the Indos I have had over the years, absolutely hate the bright light and go unstable.
