how do people in singapore and hong kong afford their fish?

i am having a phone interview with a hospital in singapore next week. i knew i would have to take a paycut to move over there. but after looking at their rent, i am shocked.
it is over $2000/month. i might have to live paycheck to paycheck as a pharmacist.
how the hell do people afford all that expensive fish i keep seeing on asian websites?
 
I'm guessing most of the aquarium owners there are the folks who work in those skyscrapers and high rise office buildings.The people in that sector probably do pretty well for themselves and can spend good money on the hobby.

Not sure about all of that but I was referring to the flack that he is getting from some members in the other thread.

Well, he's referring to a region...not a specific race.

Congrats on the move. Hopefully you will be able to find some awesome fish over there.
