I have an ornate polyterus and a senegalis and I wiil be picking up a delhezi by the time anyone respods to this I found a small one at my LFS and am hoping that these different species can get along. I will eventually add a rope fish at some point also. I have heard that delhezi are very agrressive toward others of their own kind and was wondering how they would be with different species. Does anyone have any experience with keeping various species of polyterus together sothat I will know what to expect as they all grow? The ornate is the smallest at just slightly over 2" and the senegalis and delhezi both are at about 3".:headbang2

actually bichir aggression has more to do with the specific individuals than species. and in general bichirs make good tankmates of each other, and the more bichirs there are in the group, the less likely there will be aggression issue, in general. With smaller group, having enough hiding spots usually help.

:iagree: with Infblue. I keep all 3 species in one tank and never had a problem so far.

I would probably skip on the ropefish since they always end up getting eaten by the ornate. The ornate might be small for now but eventually it will be big enough to be able to eat a skinny wormy looking ropefish.

thanx for the info about them and the ropefish. So far things are going better than anything I had imagined. The delhezi though he does not hide like the ornate and not quite as active as the senegalis is at least visable most of the time.

What would options be to keep with them as they grow? The fish I have with them now will never get big enough to keep with them when they grow. I have a dojo loach which will become the biggest at an expected 8" and I do not know if he will be big enough around for them to leave him alone.
