how do u know

so like three days ago i bought 3 golden snails the first day they were real active but yesterday they were jus laying on the bottom with there shells open i was wondering if they were dead

If you pull at the snails "door", a live snail should retract it.

well this morning i moved one of them and now all of there shells are closed a little more

Snails can go dormant for 3-4 days at a time.

I have read that they will actually come out of the shell when dead.

I've actually experienced this with my snails.

After a couple more days and you don't see any activity from the snails just pick one up out of the water and smell it. You will defiantly know ifs dead or not.
