sounds kinda painful actually.*S* but seriously, i have 3, 1-11/2 firecracker tropheus'. and i would like to know about differences between males and females. and the breeding habits. how difficult and so forth. if any one has some info, much appriciated.

You won't be able to sex Tropheus accurately until they're breeding size (sub-adult). The most accurate method is venting. However, if you have some experience sexing tangs (and have enough for comparison) there are some physical differences between the sexes:
* Differences in the head shape - males will have a more noticeably turned up nose whereas females tend to have a greater slope and rounded nose.
* Bolder colors - males will typically start to show off their colors once they start to become sexually active. Females tend to be more subdued and retain juvenile coloration longer.
* Larger size - males tend to grow at a faster rate then the females do and generally gain a deeper body as they age. Females often will look more streamlined.

well i have 3 of them, and 2 are always together, but they both show bold reds and additude. but they dont seem to pick at each other, the 3rd smallest of them gets chased and is, excluded from the other side of the tank. could you possibly get me some pics of the differenmce in facial sloping you were speaking of, i will get a good look at them tonight when i get home. thank you, you have been most helpful.
