I have 14 30 gallon tanks and 2 200 gallon tanks, and i want to put them on one rack. does anyone have any ideas for materials, designes, i also need designes for a central sump system. if anyone has ideas i would really appreciate it because i have to start building very soon, i have my first fish coming in 1 1/2 months and i want to be fully cycled by then. :D ;) :nilly:   :)

You have two choices.

The first one is a cinderblock stand. Space cinderblocks 30 inches apart (the length of most 30g tanks) on the floor and build these pillars a few cinderblocks high, then lay a strip of 3/4 inch plywood on top of the pillars. You can keep this up to an unlimited height.

The other option is a store bought (ie Lowes or HD) stand. They make 7 foot long stands that are 7 foot high, with each shelf having a capacity to hold 2000 lbs. You will have to buy two of these to get 14 30g's and 2 200g's on them though. Put right next to eachother, it should look exactly like 1 stand though.

I have two stands…
one I made out of steel, and the other I made out of wood…
the steel one is 8 foot long, and has three levels,

The wood one is 10 foot long and also has three levels…
It depends on how much you want to spend.

My mate brought a shelf set up from a hardware store, that is 4 levels high and 6 foot long.

I'm all for DIY but you have time constraints and alot of weight...

Go with the rack system and use 3/4" plywood (waterproofed / sealed) for shelf inserts.

A) you can add on.
B) you know it will hold the weight.
C) up in 10 minutes
D) pricing isn't bad

Look to see if you have a warehouse storage supply business in your area, some take systems in trade when they upgrade their customers and resell cheap. Also look for companies going out of business too :(.

yea listen to DR joe sounds like you want the stand finished in about 2 weeks in order to let your system start cycling, is this for something at your house? or at a store, thats alot of tanks :)
either way it would look cool if you had 200 gallon tanks symmetrical to eachother how ever you put it up on the outside, inside inbetween etc
