on friday my apartment along with 7 others in the unit fell victim to an electrical fire that started from one of the other units. my unit's bathroom was damaged and now the entire apartment is not livable anymore. i have renter's insurance, so i'm not overly worried - i just have not been in this situation before so wanted to some advice.
how should i file claims for smoke damage? basically all my clothes reek of smoke, along with my furniture. i read some articles online about what i should be claiming but wanted to double check... does anyone have any experience? any insurance experts or lawyers who would be willing to offer me some advice on how to best get the claims i deserve? i will definitely need relocation, hotels, furniture, clothing types of claims, but i was reading how smoke actually damages electronics stuff too...
