do you have to take all those rocks out to vacum the sand ?
how do you keep fish waste from geting in between all those rocks?

You just do the best that you can with what you can.

I vaccum around the rocks then about every 2 months take all the rocks out for a full sweep.

it is a nice tank i want to do something like that to my 55gal. i have flower pots right now. what about the rocks that lean on the glass is that safe? i guess it is there are lots of videos on the net with rocks all over the glass.

I would be worried about the overall weight of the rocks on the bottom. I believe it's tempered, but still. A 55gal thickness would not be sufficient over time IMHO.

powerheads can help as well. plus the fish will clean out their caves when you are cleaning... They will push it out with their fins or pick it up with their mouths and spit it out in the open. It is the areas that fish can not get to the gets full of waste.
