how do you clean up water damage?

not sure if theres a thread like this or not
mainly want to know peoples tricks to clean up water damage on carpet

im battling my 2nd leak with a fan and me stepping on a towel in the wet spot once in a while

just curious if theres any other tricks

im sure a shop vac would work on tile or something but i dont think on carpet to well

so if you have any tips post them up

Yup shop vacuums work on carpet also.towels lots of them.and if it not to big an area hairdryers work-Anne

i use that natural source called the sun
to dry up the carpet
have dealt with only two floods
one- the tank burst when i was trying to place a heavy wooden hood on the 15g and boom
2) my artc likes rearranging things and he somehow managed to hit the glass tank walls with a rock being used as a decor

Fans Lay them down on the area affected. Also you can rent industrial size fans.. Of blowers The faster you get it dried the better!!!

hmm instead of having the fan blow on the spot i think i will put it so its sucking it out

Blow into the spot My friend is apart of flood clean up (Service Master) here and he brought industrial blowers over.. But he told me to use fans til he got to my pad.. He told me to LAY THEM AIMED RIGHT AT the spot laying on top of it Do what you want.. But fan facing up away from the spot is going to be like you blowing on it with your mouth all night You'd be better off just leaving your wet/dry sucking on the spot.

They're pretty expensive, but a good dehumidifier will do A LOT more than fans alone.

both times my home was flooded (tank leaked, pipes burst), the restoration companies came in with large dehumidifiers and larger fans. They pulled up the carpet and placed the fans blowing at the underside of the soaked carpet. This did the trick. Good luck!
