What do you use to decide if your tank is fully stocked?

Nitrates?
Inch per gallon?
Does it depend on the fish in the tank?
Just by looks?
Temperament, growth of the fish, activity level of the fish?

So, how do you decide? We always see people who are like "THAT TANK IS OVERSTOCKED"... so what do you do to come to that conclusion?

if the fish look comfortable ,tests are good and the fish look healthy if it does not have all 3 its overstocked in my book .

when i cant see anymore water....

i do it the right way,by meeting the needs of my FISH,each fish has a minium tank they can be in and what type of tank mates they can be with,so i go by that, that way its done right

no i mean each fish needs a miniumum tank size,so i just look at what that is

When the nitrates approach 40ppm by the end of the week, thats one way of saying your overstocked to a degree.

5000 POSTS.

mine reach 40 after 2 days haha, gotta love overstocked in a small tank and lots of water changes
