WITHOUT BUYING MORE TANKS!!! LOL

If you like the looks and personalities of 4-5 different bigger sized cichlids how do YOU decide which one(s) to go with. Personally I am having a fit trying to decide between GT's, escondido's, EBJD's, Red spotted Sevs, FM's, regular JD's. One moment I've decided GT is the way to go, then I do some more reading, go over a few pictures and think I want to go with EBJD's instead, then the next I'm reading and pouring over Escondido pics and articles. I almost don't care that the 75g is bare right now, save the little loaches and mini plecos. Too much to do trying to decide on a BIG fish(es) to go in the tank, lol.

:wall: <-- sums it up I think.

i know exactly how you feel.....you just gotta pick one and go with it.....
what do you want from a fish? color, attitude, personality, etc......

You decide by buying one big tank and having all of those fish in a community. :D

I think you can realistically get away with a mix of all those fish in a 125. the 2 you would probably have to be the most wary of are the GT and texas. None of those fish listed get particularly big (gt and texas have the greatest potential size in that list, they'll probably hit 12" max and that'll take a few years). But as long as you're not looking to keep pairs of each fish, you should be fine with an all male tank.

If you wanted a few pairs in there though, you should be able to get away with a pair of fms and a sev pair as neither fish really have the tools to do much damage to the others listed.

If you decide to go with the severums, you should be able to keep an EBJD and FM (maybe even a pair of them) in that 75.

If you go with the GT or texas, well, depends on the fish's individual personality.

Personally I'm looking for color and personality... not so much attitude, as I don't want them to thrash my loaches and plecs ;p All the fish I listed look stunning to me and their personalities are just as cool from everything I have read. Short of buying a bigger tank or MORE TANKS!!! lol It's been hell trying to decide.

This is a great question because I get challenged EVERY day with it... Especially when my buddy calls and says hey I got all of these super hard to find guys coming in and you can have any of them for a nice price...:nilly:

So, what I do now with all of these guys is I go after only the extremely nice ones. Or I go after the rare ones. Im also starting to get as bad as wanting F0 or F1s only too:screwy:... Good news is is that it will stop me from trying to get soo many fish:D. Bad news is my cost of purchases are more expensive and also harder to find.:irked:

Ill say a pair of firemouths..........or a big ASS male GT :D...pair of firemouths = Lots ov firemouths :D = Profit...ish lol

its a nightmare im on here every day reading different threads and seeing lovely pics of them both ,i would put them both in my large tank but i worry that the jag might be a bit to much for a oscar

Theres nothing as awesome as a massive GT or Texas imo - both are very easy to look at.

or full grown EBJD's or red spotted sevs or full grown firemouths with their trailers.. LOL
