I have some growouts that are small and it looks like the fish are having trouble with the current from the filter.

Could i use some floating plants?

Or would i have to use some drfitwood or something like that?

spray bars work well. dont know what filters you have, but some have spray bar attachments you can put on. long tube with lots of little holes.
aim it upward to the surface.

otherwise, you could use surface plants, or driftwood. Or aim the outlet nozzles toward the glass. lots of stuff you could try.

Try shooting into decor or glass or raise it.. If its that bad just take it out.

Yup, depends on your setup. I had a 1" return from my sump that created too much flow. I just changed to a 1 1/2" and now it's just right.

idk the exact name, but its walmart brand, i think im just going to get some floating plants and a piece of driftwood

plants and driftwood are almost always a good thing..
