  1. Use our search function - you're not the first one who skipped math in school. (It keeps amazing me) ;)
  2. you buy a tank without knowing how many gallons it holds???

LOL, I once worked up a formula that went though several steps and that at one point had the user figuring out acrefeet per hogshead before finally getting to gallons per square foot, the guy I gave it to used several sheets of paper to get his answer before asking me if there was a simpler way.
He was not amused when I told him 7.4 gallons per cubic foot or 231 cubic inches per gallon..., but I was!

Guppy .. how many gallons per square foot anyway ? You still rock.

(length x width x height) / 231 ... Thats what I use too
72 x 30 x 18 = 38880
38880 / 231 = 168.3 ish

Outside measures? Allow for thickness of glass I'd say 165 gal. But then again, I can be thinker than I dumb I am.

This formula is about the best I know, Other than EasyMac.

You caught that eh? LOL, anywhere from 0 to infinity, without the third dimension the volume remains undefinded.
I meant to say cubic, not square, oops.
Sort of like when someone asks how much water weighs, first ask them where. On Mars it is a bit lighter.

I debated the jab, but I was rather sure you'd be cool with it.

Now when they ask how much water weighs, to you also go to the whole salt v fresh question?
