I have 62watts worth of t5 HO on a 29. A few of the plants at the top of the water column are starting to get fuzzy. Last night I left the light on for too long, and when I woke up there were little algae hairs trailing off the fuzz. I think it's hair or beard algae. How do I get rid of it? I've already ordered a CO2 system just waiting for it to arrive, and I'm dosing every other day with a flourish excel.

Can anybody help?

dose everyday with excel, even double the dosage. also squirt the algae with hydrogen peroxide. it will dry up in about 3 days

With a hair algae brush.

All funny matter aside, I have heard about the peroxide method, tried it once and it didn't work. Maybe I did it wrong, cause jcardona knows how to keep plants, so I would trust him.

how do I squirt H2O2 onto the plants if they're below the water's surface? Should I lower the water level, squirt and then raise the water level? Should I leave the water level low and paint it on with a brush? Does H2O2 affect the biofilter? Thanks

no need to change your water level. i just used a little plastic syringe. youll see it fizz up immediately. ive used it several times with no ill effects, lots of folks with planted tanks use it to treat certain algae
