do you guys just fill the tank up with a python or something similar or do you guys put water in a tub and heat the water up first before dunping it into the tank. i was thinking the temp of the tap water would put the fish in shock. opinions?

I just try to match the water temp with my hand and dump it in. I never get to much of a variant only a degree or 2 +/-.

on the tanks that I do water changes, I just get the temp from the tap close, dose the tank with dechlor, and fill it up with the python. I hold the python tube as close to horizontal as possible and make sure the end of the tube doesnt get submerged. That helps with gas exchanges.

Hell no :) I match the tap to the tank and let the python FLow !!! LOL THere is no way i would tub then dump after i bought my python :) I am working on setting up a tap over near where my display tank 150 is sitting just to make fill easier.. LOL I am lazy now that i have a python LOL

I bought a python..it was the best thing since sliced bread.....then I bought a condo.....not a faucet in the house has a threaded end......Now I run a house out side and just syphon....re-fill using bucket (after bucket after bucket) dosing each bucket with de-clor as it fills......I try to match the current tank temp using a digital thermometer

Python makes a universal adapter for faucets like yours and I know most hardware stores carry similar items too. Get yourself one, buckets are a drag!

i have a 75ft hose thats barely long enough to reach my only sink that has threads.

plumber892003 so this universal adapter can be used on sinks that dont have threads? if so can u give me a link, that would make my life sooo much easier.

I get the temp close. within a degree or two, at a 25% change that only changes the tank 1/2 degree. 50% change 1 degree. Thats a nothing change in all actuallity. surrents in nature can throw it 5 or more (not ideal but natural) depends on the fish too.

I currently use 5g bucket so the change on the 55s @ 50% are 1/5 degree per bucket is I get within 1 degree.

When I buy a house, then I will set things up the way I want. preheated auto fill and so-on.

Pythons are better than buckets, but the exersize is good too :clap
