no where
how do you heat your tanks? ill go first.

i dont use heaters for many reasons, number one being that they can explode in your tank.. so i have my apt set at 70, which in tune makes my tank stable at 80 to 82. yes its warm in my apt but its worth it for my fish... before, i had my thermostat set at 60 which left my tank at 70 to 72, sometimes 74.. which my fish werent as active, but now they are really active with the tank at 80 to 82..

so how do you heat your tanks?

Surprised without heaters you hav that much of a jump. 70 is not warm/hot to me, it's just right. And I have inline titanium heaters, but the heat from my pumps alone tend to heat the tank to around 85 now; especially since my tank is completely closed off with acrylic covers

The normal way, with heaters.... The only time i've ever had one explode is when my 9 foot boa constrictor sat on top of it while in her water bowl.

we keep the house at 70.. but the basement stays lower so I set our heaters around 72 to keep them warm enough threw the night ect... when we where in our small apartmenet we didnt' need to heat the tanks at all. i've started upgradeing tanks.. so that means more sump style filters.. heaters go into them and not the tanks themselves. and I don't use glass. Aqueon's have served us well but we will likely start upgradeing to titaniums as money permits... there is always soemthing to upgrade or improve. Once the pool is set up i don't see us upgradeing size wise from there so i'll put alot more money into the "big filter" then i normally do in our set-ups since i've always viewed them as "grow-out" tanks.

actually with glass tops on and everything, my tanks stay at 82 to 84 with my thermostat set at 70. but my apt heater is right under my tanks to.. so that could be why.

My hot water heater provides the heat for my tank.

I keep my house at 78 and don't keep heaters on any of my tanks...... it stays somewhere in the mid-upper 70s but I dont have an exact reading... I've kept it this way for years.

dont know how, but my thermostat is set at 70, yet one tank stays around 78 to 80, other one stays at 82 to 84.... both tanks are next to each other, and both tanks are above the apt heater.....

Fish gas. One tank has a fish with more gas.

I have 5 tanks with heaters of my 16 tanks. I heat the on my house set at 70-75 and all my tanks are at 76-84f. The heaters I just have on the more sensitive tanks, rays, aros, fatf, tarpon they all get heaters. The others are fine or in a large enough system not to make a difference with the ambient temperature.
