After my arowana destroyed one section of my glass canopy (thankfully not clearing the tank) I added:

6 very heavy textbooks

3 book ends

some boards

and three box games to keep Bob inside his tank. It works fairly well. He's bloodied himself up a bit, splashed 20 gallons of water onto the wall, but so far he has failed to escape. What do you guys use?

I use 10 and 12 mm glass which is much heavier to lift/dislodge and tough enough not to shatter when it does get bumped up. On new additions I sandbag them down further with 2kg bags of sand. I also dill some 35mm holes for easy feeding. This means I dont have to lift or move lids very often.

floresent lighting eggcrate and 2 large peices of slate

I use... black tape... I use a plastic hood that has 2 openings. The 1st opening at the top is to check on the filter. I use a top filter which blocks any fish trying to jump. The 2nd opening is slanted and for feeding and since its slanted, I can't weigh anything on it. My hood is black so I use black tape to tape the opening. My aro hasn't jump at all since I bought him....

I have a simple hood on my 55 gal, so I placed bubble wrap on the areas my aro tends to hit within the insides. I then but magnets on the rims to keep it closed. It seems to work but I am curious to see what you guys do as well as she is getting bigger and soon will be in a bigger enclosure so I would need to update my jump-proof methods!

:duh: why didnt I think of that. I like your bubble wrap idea. maybe I'll stick some layers of bubble wrap on my lids so it doesnt do as much damage.

I use a simple tube system that just slides over the lids. This could easily be done on acrylic tanks just the same and also on glass with the right silicone.
Pics are when this tank was in the build process but it gives a good shot of the pipe system.
