well? how do you?
did you find the cause and remove it? (an example might be drift wood)
...or did you do something to counter act it? :frog::turtle::tropicalf:goldfish::)

filters... lots of them. both bio to keep it from clouding, UV to keep out algea bloom and both coarse and fine mech for all the ummmm "poop"

diatom filters keep it crispy

Good filtration, a UV Filter + Purigen helps keep my tanks crispy...

diatom filters?! its been a while since i read up on those guys, but aren't they supposed to be used sparingly? how often do you run one on your tank?

what is Purigen?

UV to get rid of algae. good to know, glad ya'll shared. i would have thought that a UV filter would get rid of all the beneficial bacteria in the water column and cause such an upset the you'd never have your tank cycled... and im sure it does get rid of it as far as the water column is concerned, but i guess the stuff in the filter and on decor in the tank is enough to compensate. see, now i know a quick fix for algae.

good stuff guys. anybody have the luxury of complaining about how your water is never less than squeaky clean without any effort and you just don't understand what all the fuss is about?

Well, i have two canister filters on my 200G, one is hooked up to the UV filter while the other is not... so no worries about the BB dying out...

As for what purigen is about, here is an extract from their site:

Purigen® is a premium synthetic adsorbent that is unlike any other filtration product. It is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water at a rate and capacity that exceeds all others by over 500%. Purigen® controls ammonia, nitrites and nitrates by removing nitrogenous organic waste that would otherwise release these harmful compounds. Purigen’s™ impact on trace elements is minimal. It significantly raises redox. It polishes water to unparalleled clarity. Purigen® darkens progressively as it exhausts, and is easily renewed by treating with bleach. Purigen® is designed for both marine and freshwater use.

Here is a web link incase you want to read more about the product:
