I "caught" a large pond snail a couple of days ago. I put him in a tank, but he just floats at the top, though his "trapdoor is firmly closed. I have read that they can float likes this for a few days, and as long as they are sealed up, they are still alive. Any idea how long before he comes out of his shell?

if he is in his shell he is alive, if he is hanging out of his shell not reacting to anything then he is dead. take him out and smell him maybe. you will KNOW if he is dead lol

Take him out and smell him, if he's dead you'll know it in no time... ugh, they sure can stick up things, haha
