My male red devil and female didn't really get along but the other day after a water change the got together to challenge my jag pair and then the devil pair guards this pot but theres NP eggs and the go act like they are going to spawn but they don't but they still are gurding the pot and going in and out an the moved the gravel from in front so is there any hope for a spawn ? Are they paired or no? Or is just a territory thing ?

I've had fish do this forever and not spawn too. Made me want to tear my hair out. Odds are that yours will eventually, hopefully it doesn't try your patience.
Yes they have paired off. I caught mine too late and they wiped out 10 different fish my 200 gallon tank. The male was 12 inches at that time and the biggest boy in the tank. Good luck. I still have like 100 midevils right now I need to get rid of from their fry. Mine reproduced for a year straight until the male killed the female.
Yes give them time. You can't do anything. They're making a home so they can spawn. Don't rush these things.
They're things to promote a good spawn though. Do a large water change and check water conditions. Water change itself promotes this
