i want to consturct a paludaruim in my 30 gall tank for some freshwater crabs im getting. could anyone explain to me how i could make a really amazing paludarium? :D

sure.... get some pieces of acrylic or glass and seal them to the inside of the tank in the middle. fill the middle with soil or some plant friendly substrate. plant some cool looking terrestrial plants in the middle. along the back, you may want to add some styrofoam and carve out some planters to plant more plants in for the wall. paint the styrofoam and add some more plants along the wall. mosses that grow in moist areas are nice additions and look very natural of course. then add some nice substrate to fit the ecosystem you want to create and add some cool aquatic plants. a more natural way of transitioning from the land to water is to slope both the glass/acrylic you seal in, as well as either moss or driftwood. some newts are cool since they will enjoy both the land and the water. you can use sponge filters on each side for easy filtration.

thanks agian swede :)

i also plan on keeping multis (shell dwellers) and shrimp in the water portion of the tank. does that change anything for the setup?

sponge filter should be fine. just do regular weekly WC to help the mechanical filtration along
