How do you measure your crayfish?

Do you guys take into account their body size only when measuring your crayfish, or do you count their entire length when they are resting with their claws out? My cray's claws are almost the size of him so including his claws would make my guy about 5inches.... im unsure of how to properly measure this guy.

For the hobby: claw tip to tail tip.
