How do you measure your fish? total length, fork length, or standard length?
I'm really asking about aquarium fish, but anglers can answer too.

I stand way back and go like this...
Hmmmm, looks about 4 inches long. Done.
You left my rough estimate option off the poll.
To be honest though fork length is probably what I use mostly. I never thought about the difference in that and total length.

I use fork length for my fish but I use the total length for when I go fishing for say striped bass or other game fish
Fork length for me..i always thought standard length was the same as fork length...new to me...lol
well mostly the measurements would be done as from the neck to the tail bone. not the tails. lols are u planning to sell ur fish....
Fork.. stick a ruler or tape measure by the tank and take a picture lol, never tried to take the fish out of the water to measure. Too much work.
No Im simply curious as to what most people measure by so when I read information about how big fish get or peoples fish sizes I know what they mean.
