What is the proper way to complely nuke and start over with a tank.

I have been having some serious issues with water and fish dying, and mabye disease, although there are no specific signs of any that i can see.

I got the 55 gallon tank from an empty house, so dont know what it was used for previously...it had soem old filters still on it, which i discarded.....but none the less, i am still having complications.

I also am running an eheim 2028....so what can i do to completely get rid of everything inside, and what can i use to destroy any bacteria or disease and just start fresh?

Lots of differenent methods.. Could use Bleach and just dechlorinate really well. Let it sit dry for a day or two and dechlor really heavy.

Also a super high salt bath mixed with a malachite green/formalin mixture pretty much nukes everything.

The tank might of been used for something bad though, such as small animals, which many cleaners and/or urinating in the silicone could cause permanant damage.. Could also be copperized, but that would really only effect your inverts and copper-sensative fish.

What did you have in there and how did you know the fish were diseased free prior?

I would do what the other person suggested.
