sup folks.

So how do you prepare your rays frozen food? Do you just washed it with water, then add any vitamins before you put it in the fridge?.

One of my ray just died a couple days ago from internal parasite. After further investigation, i suspect the problem was from the shrimp that i didnt clean it well before i put it in the fridge. Or the cheap frozen bloodworm that i got from my lfs. It is either one of it that screwed my ray.

So u froze the shrimp but you think that they got sick from the food? We're the shrimp fresh when u got them?

I just defrost in fridge overnight and feed the next day. Done this for years with no issues. I only feed stuff that is fit for human consumption and I have never washed it.

I thaw right before feeding. I take my shrimp or tilapia out of the freezer into a cup filled with hot water. Once thawed I cut it up into small pieces and rinse only because I am trying to reduce all the white stuff that comes of from the shrimp.

I got the shrimp from the lokal market store, and it was frozen already.. so i dont know how fresh they were. The past week i only fed my rays either frozen bloodworm or that shrimp.

I thaw it with tank water, put it in the ziplock, and float it in the tank for like 10minutes to defrost it, then feed them.

Same. I thaw it right before feeding. But i udually buy a bulk of it, and prepare the food for 2-3 weeks stock, cut it into pieces, put it in ziplock, then to the fridge and thaw it with tank water and let it float in the tank for like 10minutes to defrost it before feeding

But a friend told me to really clean the shrimps thoroughly before putting it into the fridge. Not really sure if it is necessary hence im askin here hehe

Never take frozen prawn, wash and re freeze, you need to keep frozen. Then wash it well as many have sulphides added to prevent bacteria, sulphides are poisons, even used in red wine...see the warning label. Then wash well before feeding.

Always rule out other non obvious factors like what has the nitrate crept up to?

Normally i buy fresh shrimp, cut it into pieces then put it in to the fridge. But the last week shrim i got the frozen one, i defrosted it, cut it, and put it back to the fridge. Would that be the cause?

Before the ray died, it had a white stringy poo, and there was some green color on the poo as well
