I know you are suppost to go to a auction prepared, in mind what you want with a cage prepared at home. But almost none of you can tell me you went to a show and came home with something "unplanned". So my question is how do YOU prepare in short notice for the animal? I was thinking a quick stop att he dollar store for large cheap plastic bins as temporary caging. I have plenty of heat lamps and what not so thats not a problem. Besides im in Florida so keeping them outside is not hard and that takes care of the UV problem. but what do you do on a spur of the moment purchase?

just have an empty cage with all the basics like a hide box and heat source ready. you can always change it around over the next few days to better suit the animal. I am a pretty bad impulse buyer. I will go to a show wanting one thing and get something totally different. Just be prepared to be flexible and plan a trip to the pet store or hardware store to get some supplies if you need them.

Cool, i just wanted to know what you guys do to ease the tension. I am planning on coming back with nothing (like that will happen :grinno:)

Yeah I normally just have an extra cage with a hide and heat source ready and then go from there once the animal actually gets home.

ahh I feel ya.. going to my first show I wanted a pyxie.. came home with 2 leos.. I usually just go with enough money for the pet and any extras.. whilst having a cage etc ready at home..

Haha, I just raid the pet shop I work at for cages and supplies, since we have a pretty good array of reptile and small animal products.

That is one of the reasons one should have a quarantine room.

A quarantine room should never be uninhabited.

And you have time to prepare the definitive enclosure.

quarantine room?

yes. As a separate space where you can, without any qualm, put your impulse buy.

aaa, for some weird reason i got a image of a room quarantined off for the reptile as if it had small pox or something.
