How do you put sand in a tank?

I know it sounds dumb, but i've never used sand for an aquarium before. I have a few questions about it, how do you put it in? what type of sand do i need to get? how many pounds for a 75 gallon?

that does sound dumb! just put it in like you would with ravel, pool filter sand is good, and what's the footprint of your tank?

A 100lbs should be good....wash it in a 5 gallon bucket 1st...get pool filter sand if you can(any pool supply store).....sand 1st...then water...

Don't forget to drain your tank a little. Adding sand to a full tank = overflowing water.
