and how do i take of the seel that is in the the aquarium

and how do i clean or prepare the the tank for pu on new seel

I have a tank at those exact dimensions and resealed it about 7 months ago. I used 100% silicone that is used to seal windows (but not the anti-mold kind). Nothing fancy.

1st try failed with a leak in the bottom middle back seam. 2nd try I had one pin-hole leak about a foot from the top so I lowered the water level below the leak and sealed it. My goal was only to re-seal the tank and not to reinforce it (I have steel frames on all exterior edges).

To prep the surfaces, I used a few fresh utility blades and cut away all the old silicone. New blades should not scratch your glass (glass is harder than steel). If I noticed the blade not "cleaning" the silicone off as well as I like I got a new blade. Once the glue was removed I used gin (I didn't have any other low residue alcohol) to polish any contaminants off the glass. I then applied a lot of silicone to each seam (about a 1/2" bead) and smoothed it out with a bent finger.

Beware that just because this worked for me doesn't mean it will work out for you. Good silicone technique will help in success. I also have flood insurance that would cover 200 gallons of water in my basement (I asked first).
