I use to go by fins to determine but recently I've seen females with pointed tips and my proven female doesn't have the round body shape that I've seen others go by. The one thing that seems uniform is the blue/green on the gill plate.
Sexing GTs is quite hard.
Usually males have a brighter green color and females are more olive color.
Pointed fins may also be an indication, but it is not a sure way of sexing them.
This is also my expierence... Females will have patches of hreen under mouth and gill area.... Long fins is a horrible way of sexing... A male will usually show his tube once in a while...
