how do you sex red blood parrots?

How do you sex red blood parrots? I have 7 that are 3-4". And I want to know how to sex them. I want to get rid of some of the males since they are infertile anyway.

Same way you do all cichlids- breeding tubes! Males' will be more pointed while females' will be rounded.

The females have bigger tubes than any cichild that I have ever owned and the male has a pointy one.If you want to breed them then you have to cross them the males are sterile.

then they probably are NOT old enough or mature to properly sex yet.

however 3-4inch parrots should be ready to go and at least starting to pair up a bit and tubes should be coming out by now. especially if you have 7 together.

ooh ok. thanks for the replies. I wanted it to cross breed. I have a bunch of other cichilds in my tank. I want it to breed with a midas or a red texas.
