So when I check my water params they are all pretty much on point, but my general hardness is reading a tad high. Whats a safe way to soften your water? Again my nitrates ammonia and ph are fine....

Do weekly water changes with distilled water from the grocery store. 20 litres costs $4.50 where I live. That would be enough for a 10% water change on your tank once a week. Monitor your hardness and stop using distilled water exclusively, when it gets to where you want.
Just do all your water changes from now on with ro/di water and you will have no more problems. You can buy it from kiosk's in front of grocery stores for about $.25 per gallon or buy your own unit for about $175.
