How do you train an RTC to take pellets?

Make sure he's eating well for a week or so... then starve him. Try the pellets, if he ignores remove them and try the following day. Use a good pellet like hikari carnivore or massivore. My RTC won't eat certain pellets like shrimp pellets and hikari bio gold.
dont feed for 2-3days then feed. especishly if he is in a tank if he is in a pond he might not so it or find other sources....
Im actually having this same problem, I can not get him to eat massivore sinking pellets, I have a 6'' in a 150 gallon that wont go up to the top of the tank so I end up cuttinp up small pieces of anchovies and let them sink down, which makes the water cloudy every time. And any sinking pellets are super expensive and my cichlids end up getting to all of them before they get down to the bottom
Go to Kensfish.com he has a large sinking pellet that my rtc and hybrid chomp right down,and much cheaper than hikari.
