My Black Ghost Knifefish has very early signs of what I think might be finrot, the bottom fin that is constantly waving as it swims has gotten a bit frayed in one part. If this is in fact finrot, how should I go about treating it and if needed what medications do you suggest?

Thanks

Jason

Very clean water... repeat.... repeat.....

no meds...just the very best water conditions you can possibly give him.

cut it off? wouldn't this just stress the fish out even more? not disagreeing or anything but how are you supposed to cut it off when the knife is still alive? I mean...would you sedate it or something?

That's what my friend have done when his cichlid got a finrot. He cut off the part where the finrot is. He did it last year and the finrot hasn't appeared ever since.

I would take my chances with the good water conditions before I would try to 'trim' my BGK.

Good water conditions and good food makes a 'world of difference'.

i agree with everybody here. i would also be nervous cutting off part of my bgks fin
