Install a thermostat on a heating pad. I just got one for my new baby corn and I don't want the little guy to get fried. I am very worried about him. So please help me. Thanks!

You plug the thermostat into the wall, then plug the heater into the thermostat. A higher-end thermostat will have a probe and a digital display that shows the set temperature and the actual temperature as recorded by the probe. If yours lacks these features and simply has a dial on it, you need a digital thermometer with a probe to calibrate the thermostat. And once it's calibrated, you might have to adjust it as the temperatures outside the cage change.

Well I just bought a dimmer and I am going to hardwire that in. I got a thermometer that I can calibrate it with. Thats going to be just as good isn't it? If not I will get a thermostat soon. Just can't spend that much money that fast. I have already blown way too much money this week. Even though I work two jobs it still seems like I have no money :irked:

as long as you remember that what the thermostat reads might not be the actual temp (need a thermometer just to check) but it will keep it constant. Remember to get the correct type of thermostat to go with your heat mat.
