I'm Where I'm At
When I'm somewhere foreign, or visiting people of a different ethnicity, I love trying their food. So I wonder how other countries view our food here.

What would be a real american cuisine you'd prepare for someone who was from another country if you want them to have a good american experience when it comes to food? BBQ? Steak? Fried chicken and mashed potatoes?

Just curious. I tend to think we are known for being the king of fast food though.

I think american cuisine is mostly just a fast food version of ethnic foods. I can't even think of an truly american dish....Mac and cheese or fried chicken maybe.

Hamburgers are truly American. And hamburgers aren't only in fastfood restaurants. They can be "gourmet".

BBQ is truly American.

Both hamburgers and BBQ are delicious, and I think other parts of the World would agree!

i'd guess bbq, chili, jerky, hot dogs, hamburgers, cheese steaks, peanut butter and oreo cookies. almost everything "american" came from or was heavily influenced by other cultures.

i'm sure there are some traditional native american foods but i don't have a clue as to what they might be... time for some googling!

i think mashed potatoes are a true american invented food unless i'm wrong

maybe you can google that while you're at it?

I'm not a big BARBEQUE eater but I would agree that it is truly American..Two of my favorite dishes are liver smothered in gravy and onions over white rice and... salmon and rice.I'm not sure if they are enjoyed elsewhere.
