How are everyones fish always sick...mine are lucky to ever make me think there sick... It may sound dumb but I always put ick away in my tank after each water change, and Ive never seen ick.
Every now and then, I report on a fish experiencing a problem. Considering that it's one fish out of over an average of 4,000 fish (up to 10,000+) in 125+ aquariums, that report makes for a very small ratio of the hatchery's overall population.
I havent had any issues. I think if you have the time to do regular wcs and gravel vacs and dont over crowd too much there really should not be any problems. I think many of the problems posted are from newer fish that brought something into a tank and were not quarantined long enough or at all. It is tough sometimes to have patience. Every fish I have now besides 2 additions have been with me for years.
are you mad that your fish never get sick? your not really doing anything special by your fish not ever having ick, ick is very very easy to clear up. i have gotten rid of ick in one of my tanks once or twice in the past 4 or so years. and it kinda sounds like a waste of money using ick meds after every water change even if your fish dont already have ick.
Other than having Ich once, I have never had any problems. I know that clown loaches are very sensitive to ich, and that's what's in my tank. When I had ich, i caught it in time, and didn't let it spread to them.
What I do, is I raise and the lower the temps every other week or so (never going out of their range) but it helps with keeping things under control.
And when I had ich, I used Quick cure. Since there is a chart for loaches/tetras on the back.
ive had very few scares but it has happened. the only time i lost a sick fish was when one of my cichlids injured itself and the wound got infected and killed the fish awhile later. my others have gotten injured but its always healed fine except for that one time. if u stick around in the hobby long enough, ur bound to get a sick fish or two.
