I just finished making my first wooden tank. I am ordering the pond shield tomorrow for it. It's 5x2x2 and I have glass for the front and back. Any words of advice?

interesting. like to see when done. only advice is a shop-vac.

No advice to offer, since I'd never researched wooden tanks, but I'll be following your progress. Keep posting

Haha thank you. I have a few things on the go in the garage right now. And yes, I have a push broom and shop vac :P

Nice so far, keep up the good work.

Do you plan to add bracing to prevent it from bowing?

I do not believe I will be. The two pieces of wood up top are at 3 1/4 wide and don't budge when I put force on them. I was considering a center brace but don't think I need one.

And how are you supporting the glass windows?

It's hard to see but the base plywood comes out 5/8 of an inch for the glass to sit on. I made it so the glass has a large contact patch when being siliconed.

So the glass is going to be outside of the frame? That is a lot of force for the silicone alone to hold. Conventional wisdom has the glass inside the frame with the water pressure pushing the glass into the silicone. Will be interesting to see if this works.
