Just got the API test kit today, haven't done water testing for a LONG time.
How does my water look? I haven't done water change yet so Nitrate could be a on the high side. I still couldn't tell what exactly my pH is, doesn't really match any of the colors.

If your keeping arowanas in there, the ph is kinda high but your better of just keeping it stable. Your nitrates look like its between 10-20ppm and thats fine. JMO though

what would you say the pH is?
I have a manueli (found in water with pH from 4.6-6) in the same water (both tanks are sharing a 70g sump) and it's doing great so I don't worry too much about the pH.

Yeah, the water's pretty hard. Try a high-range kit for more precise numbers, the blue you see means the test is maxed out. But as long as it's stable your fish will usually be fine.

Is the manueli wild caught? Does he seem stressed? If he's eating well and growing I wouldn't change a thing.

it might be a bag of gravel I got from homedepot, too late to take it out now. maybe I should test my tap water too.
manueli is only available from the wild, it's doing fine, eating well and doesn't seem stressed.

I got the pea gravel from Lowe's. Took my pH from 6.6 to 7.6. All is well. And your nitrAtes look low enough for most fish. Good work.

yea pea gravel is what I got, wonder if over time it'll start to lower itself down once all the crap leached out from the gravel.
manueli is pretty sensitive to water quality so I try to keep up with the water changes.

Looks great. You may want to consider some driftwood or peat for the pH
but as stated, stable > sometimes perfect

High range test is right nest to the low range pH, looks to me that the pH is between 8.2 and 8.4. Personally myself I would no raise a SA arowana in that high of pH, though there are many that do.
